After receiving some positive feedback to my last work “yuka” I decided to write a detailed tutorial about creating process. My main goal was to create a painting which was really detailed. I knew that I wouldn’t be able to do it without a real photograph so I started to look for something that would interest me and make me want to spent a lot of hours painting it in photoshop. And I found a perfect picture on http://img10.picsplace.to/2/yukahanedamaid.jpg . I received a lot of e-mails saying that it’s not a big deal to just paint something like this using a real photograph. What can I say, if you don’t like it don’t look at it or try to do it and you will see how much time it takes to create it like I did.

In this tutorial, I’ll be showing you how to draw a shiny green apple. We’ll have a look at various painting techniques throughout this tutorial. It will be fun and you’ll learn something new – let’s started! Conclusion: You’ll see some distortion on the edges which are caused by the Warp transform. To get rid of them Command-click the “Apple” layer, go to Select > Modify > Feather, and set the Radius to 1 pixel. Next, go to Select > Inverse and hit Delete three or four times to clear the distorted area from the edges. And you finished!

Some time ago I came up with a technique to create digital smoke using the Liquify filter in Photoshop. Although it was a simple and efficient way to achieve that sort of effect, people sent me emails asking how to customize it or that it wasn’t so easy to follow. Using Illustrator’s Blend Tool gives a lot of flexibility so it’s possible to create all sorts of shapes and blend them, even creating blends with four different shapes. Then in Photoshop with the Smart Objects and Smart Filters we can apply, change, and test all kinds of filters and combinations. It’s all about playing with the tool.
